Another Writings from Auntie

I'm adding this post from my aunt's writings that I have on here, but now all three are together so that they may be viewed all in one setting......

.....One evening after a church meeting, a few of us gathered around to chat, when the subject of Above all was brought up, and Woody Rahm, who knows Warren pretty well, was teasing me about being born there. He went on to say that he thought Marge Regner and I were two of the oldest natives still in Warren, and that we were here when the Indians were. But his jest did bring back memories, and little did he know that we were here before them....

One evening while I was doing my homework, under a 30 watt electric bulb, some men came to the door, and my father then ushered in fifteen men who said they were from an Indian tribe in Canada, with questions to ask him. They said they were from three tribal chiefs among them, they had left three big touring cars parked down by the barn. they were all in business suites except for one very old, thin, bronzed-looking man with straggly white hair and with deep wrinkles in his face, who was wearing a leather outfit.
They had heard of my father, who at the time was in charge of seven state parks, knew a great deal about the people and the land around Lake Waramaug. They must have talked for over an hour. the old fellow seemed to be concentrating on something in his hands that we could not see. Then he looked at me and said something. As I could not understand what he said, my father told me to go to him. I was a little skeptical, but knew my father would protect me. The old Indian chief showed me an emerald bracelet he had been working on, and took my hand to put it on my wrist. It was so beautiful and I really wanted it, but unfortunately my wrist was too large. I wanted to keep it anyway, but he put it in pocket or pouch and pulled another out, which was no where near as pretty. it was two copper wires twisted together with pretty stone here and there, pink, amber, lavender, orange, each set far apart. I accepted it and thanked him very much for the kindness.
My father told me later that the old chief wanted to take me back to his tribe, as he thought I would make some Indian a nice chubby squaw. [ I never knew if that was true or if my father was joshing me.]
They thought that my father knew of some land that was left by the tribe at Waramaug. The only way my father was able to help them was to finally say that theu might be able to find some information in the Litchfield town records. They left [peacefully] to their automobiles. It really gave us something to think about.
I still have the bracelet somewhere in my memoirs.

.....Sone Walls...another post from my Auntie in the Warren Observer.....

I know a lot of you have been curious about where
Stone Walls come from seeing them in the Northwestern part
of New England. When I was growing up there I was
interested myself, and as it turned out I ended up working
with Stone in many jobs over the years as a contractor.
This little story tells a little bit of their origins.....

When Warren was first being settled in  the 1700's
there were just hills and forests. In order to live here,
the settlers had to clear the land. They began by cutting down trees and digging up roots. Next were the rocks and the stones which was a monumental job at the time. They had no tractors, no cross-cut saws, no earth diggers, everything had to be done by physical strength. Many of them got fed up with the
interminable job and left for Ohio.
The ones who stayed just kept clearing the land and
pulling up stones. did they even have a crowbar at the time?
Probably not, but used strong saplings instead. The rocks and stones were thrown into a pile and later maneuvered to one
side. this is where the Oxen came in handy. If a rock needed moving and the men couldn't budge it, they put a large heavy
iron chain around it, attaching it to a ring in the Ox Yoke.
Being slow and steady workers, the Oxen gradually moved the rock which was then rolled onto a Stone Boat. What's a 'Stone
Boat?' It is a lumber or planks, fastened together with wooden
pegs, with an iron ring attached to the front. The wood was
usually hewn so that curved slightly upward. An iron chain
connected the ring on the stone boat to the ring on the Ox Yoke. The team would driven to a place where they wanted the wall. Rock after rock was piled up and that is where you see
the stonewalls today.

It is interesting to notice these walls which were originally used for keeping animals in a field or pasture. But now where
there used to be  ploughed fields for grain and gardens there
are just forests of trees. Hard to imagine that some of the stone walls once contained hay. For instance, on Route 45, a little
distance from the Town garage, are several stonewalls going up the hill. Herb Curtiss once said that all the property as far south as where Sackett Hill meets Route 45 was once all open space.
The stones seem to grow. Any homeowner in Warren will tell you that, because when they start mowing their lawns in the Spring they will find stone cropping up that weren't there last year.
Upon returning to Warren after being away for several years, those stonewalls are a landmark of beauty, especially when there is a spattering of snow on them. New England is noted for stonewalls. It makes one marvel thinking of the back-breaking work the people went through to make this part of the country so picturesque........
                                                          CSV

If you recall in this story about the ones that gave up and moved to Ohio, they then established Warren Ohio.

I am so proud and happy that I have these writing's from my Aunt, without them myself and now many others wouldn't be enjoying a walk down memory lane which wonder through out Warren and parts of New Englands heritage........

The Carriage Stone and the Church Bell

This is another one of my Aunt's writings from the
Warren Observer that my Aunt used to contribute to....

There were some people from the city visiting our
church one Sunday in the Spring of 2001. Several women
had gathered near the front of the Church, near the
'Carriage Stone.' Not knowing what it was there for,
they thought it should be removed, as it seemed to block
the path into the Church. that gave me a chance to
explain that when the church was built in 1818, people
came to church in horse drawn carriages, which were
driven up close to that big stone. so all the passengers
had to do was step down onto it, walk down two steps,
and go into the church. The horses were then driven to
the 'Horse Sheds' where they were tied and sometimes
fed, depending on the owner. There was a similar rock
on the North side of the church, and those that came on
horseback also found the rock helpful in dismounting.
Usually the church bell was tolled to let townspeople
know that there was a fire, a funeral, or some other event.
I remember hearing about the 'mystery' tolling.....
At 1:00 A. M. the night before a Fourth of July, the
church bell began tolling and tolling. Residents thought
there must be a tremendous fire somewhere. The sexton
who lived near the church quickly pulled his trousers on,
grabbed a shirt and rushed to the church to find out what
was the trouble. When he got there, the bell stopped
tolling and there was no one around. The culprits had
      mysteriously disappeared.
Although it was never proven who did it, I believe
people in town had their suspicions. But as it was seen as
Forth of July prank, they just smiled and said, 'Boys will be
boys.' [Many years later I got the full story from my
      brothers.]

                                     Connie Strong Verbouwens

As some of you know, I have posted many of my Aunts
stories on my blog, one of which is the full story of that
'Mystery' tolling at the church. I will give you a hint that
one of her brothers was of course my father......

A Bennington Banner Post on Saturday, Saturday 26, 1970

This is  a post that Edward & Pegeen Fitgerald of WOR,  Kent, Connecticut from an article found in the Bennington Banner of Vermont.......                                        White Man Crazy

A deserted farmhouse in a gullied field was
pictured in a farm journal which offered a prize
for the best 100 word description. An Indian took
            the prize with this:

"Picture show white man crazy. Cut down
trees. Make big tipi. Plow hill. Water wash. Wind
blow soil. Grass gone. Door gone. Squaw gone.
Papoose too. No hay. No pony. Indian no plow land.
Great Spirit make grass. Keep grass. Buffalo eat
grass. Indian eat buffalo. Hide make tipi; make
moccasin. Indian no make terrace. All time eat.
No hunt job. No hitch hike. No ask relief. No
shoot pig. No build dam. No give dam. Indian
waste noting. Indian no work. White man crazy."

This was posted back in 1970, and as most of you know will
ring true through out the ages. Even though my roots don't go back to the Western Indians, I feel that my New England Indian roots
give me some leeway in what I believe is so true in this article.....

.....More of Aunties writings' ....A Visit to the Blacksmiths.....

As many of you know from previous Blog posts, I re-written some of my Aunt Connies' tales of when she was growing up in and around Warren and Lake Waramaug. This story tells of when she took her fathers Horse to get Shod at the Blacksmith in New Preston when she was about ten years old........

Many years ago, seventy- seven, to be exact. I was about ten years old and a real tom-boy. One day I was to ride the carriage horse from Church Road in Woodville to the Blacksmith in New Preston, so using the corner of the horse trough, I clambered onto the back of the horse, and sat on a folded burlap bag, which was put there for a saddle. I was a happy kid! I was alone, and had the horse for my partner. I whistled and sang along the way, taking a nice leisurely ride. I wore no helmet, not even a cap. No Jodhpurs, just gym bloomers like the high school girls had to wear in athletics. Three-and-a- half miles later I arrived at the Village Blacksmiths. He reminded me so much of Longfellow's "the Village Blacksmith." 'Under a spreading chestnut tree the village smithy stands, the smith, a mighty man is he, with large and sinewy hands, and the muscles of his brawny arms are as strong as iron bands.' And this particular blacksmith was built just about the same way. I could see he was very busy shoeing a big work horse, so I just stayed out of his way and watched,  as he took the large iron tongs and pulled a large semi-circular object out of the fire, placed it on a huge stump and using a sledge hammer, pound it into a shape that would fit the horse's hoof. Then I heard it sizzle as it was placed on the horses hoof and held in place while he drove nails into the hoof. I felt very sorry for the horse; it must have hurt. But later I found out that the outside of the hoof was not feeling. The horse was taken outside and tied to an iron ring on the building, until the owner came back for it, which was usually very soon. Then the blacksmith looked at me and asked me what I wanted. Believe me he was so big and strong, his arms seemed all muscle, perspiration  running down his face and arms. I quietly led my horse inside [ hard to believe I was shy in those days, but I was]. I spook softly and said " Pa said to put shoes on all four feet." He tied the horse to another iron ring fastened to the wall, and took one leg and placed it on a sort of a pedestal that fit right under the hoof. Then he cut away the nails, and went to the fire and pumped the bellows to get the fire burning hot. I stood there barefoot and watched the whole proceedings with curiosity. When all was done, he told me it was a $1.00, and I answered  "Pa said he would pay you the next time he came to the village." Evidently our credit was good and under no circumstances would a child be allowed to handle so much money because, according to adults, they would surely lose it. The blacksmith picked me up as though I was no heavier than a cat, and placed me on Major's back and so I rode home. What a wonderful day to be entrusted to take a horse to get shod. I really thought I was a Queen.

      ...She Added....

I wrote this because of the Norway Spruce being cut down in New Preston, they were there when I went that day, and I saw them every day when the school bus passed. I felt like I was losing an ancestor, but I must be grateful that no more were cut.
By the way, the Blacksmith's name was Bill Jessum, and he was the granddad of Ron Cheney and several other Cheney's in town. the blacksmith's shop is the red building on the North side of Rt. 202, directly across from the trees. That building holds years of history, and I hope it will be preserved for many more years.   CV

I hope you all enjoyed this trip down memory lane...I hope to continue with not only her stories but some of mine thrown in for good measure.......N

....Walking in the Dark on White Shadows.......

As I made my way thru this vacant and dark hallway, I could make out distinct Shadows of light shining threw the slightly opened doorways ahead of me....

The first one that I approached I opened with some reluctance but as it glided easily open in my hand I proceeded and stepped in.....

Tom greeted me with that large grin of his and a warm handshake, telling me that it was good that I had come. Walking over to his piano and sitting down, e started to a song he wrote while working at the Mobile station in New Milford.             It started with ...'Nathan Hale & the boys from Yale....'   Soon our good friend Shrdlu and Greg walked over to join in a make-shift chorus. Which was always fun when those guys came together to sing.....and play some mean music.......

Soon John Henry appeared just in time with a Doobie for all to enjoy...Michael of course not far behind...Teddy not one to indulge had his cocktail in hand...

A little light headed by now, I ventured further into this glowing white room, and saw an interesting  group of people hanging out...first the  one that looked straight at me was Ty....giving me the whole hearted laugh and a big hug...what a gal..!!  My cousin Cal and his grandson stood by with none other than Spargo.....then a friend appeared that left us to soon here in my new home...Ron with the every 'Chao Baby' that warm greeting before jumping on his Harley to venture to new horizons ......

There are so many more from my new home and my old! It will take me some time to walk along more of those White Shadows, and peek around dark corners to reach the point of keeping them all close to my heart and sharing them all with you....and of course not for getting one of the first and best...Norm.....

Now that our time is spent in remembering our dear friends, let us not forget where we stand now and keep all those...living or gone....in our Earts forever...and forever young....

                        Much Love & Peace......

.....No Place to Hide....

                                     Travel Wide and Long
                         to the Place of Wilds
                         into Dark and Lonely Places,
into the Homes of Bewildered Poor Childs.

                                      You keep on that Road
no matter how tough it gets
                         but I in My wonder....
want to know why these People Sweat.

They are in the End spots
                         of the Cities Row....
                         Struggling, some hard,
some just to keep alive.. I Know!

                         Sooner or Later,
after I make my Travels far and wide
I don't have to stop and wonder,
they'll have no place to Hide.

Now that I've left over Seas
                         beyond their Unsuccessful Land,
                         I'll never forget the Poor
                         giving me a helping hand.

If ever I come back to this Land,
                         that I love so much.......
I'll always go back to those People
so that I'll never lose their touch!

.....Poor Boy In Shame....

                       His mother sent him out,
                  'cause of a family disgrace.
                  Now he's on that Road....
                  fightin' the Human Race.

                  This time tomorrow,
                  not knowing where he'll be...
                  He's on that lonesome road
                  Fightin' only to be free.

                  This time tomorrow,
                  knowin' where he'll be
                  probably workin' on a Job,
                  Fightin' to be Free.

                  Hang your head Poor boy,
                  Hang it in Shame....
                  Hang your Head poor boy,
                  Never to return again.

                  Your Nights they cost Ya,
                  were your times that good...
                  to be left deserted,
and make your way the best you could.

                  Poor Boy you're lost now
                  out on your own....
                  left only to the Heavens,
with many a place to Rome.

                  I leave you standing now,
                  your thoughts they are confused
                  looking for the End,
                  the beginning you have Abused!

.....What's in a Number ..?!!

Just recently I had a Birthday where I celebrated my 67th day on this great earth of ours. But I reflected on more than the date as I went back in time and ran into a few people and things that I find to be buried in time.
One with another significant meaning: The Music Festivals I helped to put together in Design so that my friends and other people could enjoy. The first was Alive in '75, which was a passage to my late father who passed away at the young age of 57. That Party was forty years ago, and by making the time in numbers I had made it passed that by ten years! I thought this was a landmark in my life so that the 40 years should be celebrated for all to enjoy and reflect on those days passed.
Much  has to be grateful for bringing it back to life, with life  ever present......the Bands that played ...the food that was cooked, and especially to the people who were really behind it, who I know you Know who you are.
Even Tom, Greg, Shrulu, Barry, Micheal, Ted, passed by to have an up date of things going on and knowing our hearts were with them.

What's in a number I tried so hard to make sense of it all.
I graduated in 1967, a time much different that now. We were free to explore the wonders of the world ahead of us. My dear friend Norm Stoddard was the first to go into that dark hole of War, and not return. How does the time between the year '67 differ from my age now at '67?! Norm just passed me by and reassured me that Numbers are a just a way to count the steps we have taken to achieve our spot in life. His spot was taken to soon, just as all the friends that are gone, but not forgotten. Those number of friends will be with us forever. Just as the light of Tom, Greg, Shrulu,  Micheal, and Teddy, and so many more, will shine brightly on our souls forever.

....Numbers can have a direct and lasting effect on people, may you treat them with respect that is due to them, let's not keep fighting it...treasure every moment, next year will be upon faster than you think......

....Love and Peace to all...see you next year....!

...From another time and place, we endure to lose another Friend.....

From anther time we will drift back to those Days that now catch up with us in a most unusual time and matter....

It was back in the early Eighty's when I chanced upon a new ambition that developed into a craft that had been within  me and my past ancestry's. What or Whom, made that develop was an 'ol Hippy....yeah they say he was the first Hippy in New Milford....so with myself having left a visit in Florida in the '60's being the 'only Beard on the Beach....I figured what the Hell.....

Tom Spargo taught me how to build...I mean really build a secure structure that would outlast us both. Starting from the ground up that corner of the house better be as close to 'right on' as a String through the eye of the Needle......which means all Levels and squares shall indicate so, other wise the Sheet rockers on the 2nd and 3rd floor are gonna come after you w Blood in their eyes....but we didn't worry since we didn't need Tom to come after us with Blood in his eyes.....it was bad enough watching him hold back that anger when things didn't quite go his way...
We had developed a unique  partnership, both in work and play. As much as we liked to 'Party', Tom always kept the two separate, well as much as possible! A Case of Heineken was a good day. Anything more would have just put us into another place.

I would venture to say coming from one of his saying's that I can now relate to after learning so much from him....'shit, I've forgotten more than he'll ever know'...

               ...Rest in Peace...you 'ol Hippy.....

...Log Date..1967...from Pages of Poems & Prose...

Cry of the Love Never Lost

Hurt with the loss of Love....
Gone with the Breath of the Wind
Night will fall as Day will Break
                        Short the Feeling that lasted.....

                         She appears again,
                         with the Love deep inside
                         Brought forth to Burden Me
Then once again I am Revived.

She has told me of her great Love
But careful am I to Believe,
For the next Day, she might turn
And once more I must Grieve.

                         She has done it again,
                         Hell is my Destiny.....
For I have None to live for
                         And again I bring Antipathy.

                         Will She come back...?
And grace my side once more,
Only to be lost with Misgivings
And Run around like a Whore?

                         I have told Myself
That I will never Weep nor Cry
                         If  she leaves My side,
But be lost in a Bar to Die.

Long the Days and the Weeks
I Drown My Memories in Sorrow
To awaken to a forgotten Face,
Sober up, and get drunk Tomorrow.

                         Damn My Soul,
                         Cursed with Doom,
She has come back now when
My Heart is like an empty Room.

                         My Love sneaks back,
                         With hers to be Obvious....
                         I am careful now
For we have Love...both of Us.

Certain things I'm made to Leave
But as long as she is with Me
                         I will keep My Promise.....
For all I want is Her Love.....

......Call me Emerson......

That's what Teddy wanted to be called, Emerson Fittipaldi...after his Formula One Driver, his Hero.  Ted had many names, from Ted...Teddy...Theodore...and one that I comically named him as 'Square Man' due to his somewhat square stature.
But no matter what name he went by he always loved a good time, with his love of Sports and helping others out. I knew Teddy from High School, well I should say that I knew of him since he was a Freshman & I a Senior. We both grew up in the same Town, although far apart just as the four years between kept us from really knowing each other until the days at the Pub & Stage Three. We all know & remember how those were times of vague existence of good times & hard work. Actually, work was the main denominator that brought us closer together.
It wasn't long after his father died that Ted became the driving force in his father's business as a local contractor. He had developed some interesting clients over the years. Some his Dads, but one stood out the most that myself, Walter, Charlie & Bobby Lane & Big George, became involved with. He called him 'Frenchy,'A man that was of wealth from Sharon, who owned a resort in the Islands & a Summer home in Sharon. His hobby, believe it or not was Cars. He owned a Stock car, & raced at Limerock at certain times. Myself, as most of you know Cars is a passion of mine, so there you have it, Ted set up some work with Frenchy, & he would have us do the work needed at the time. Teddy showed  up long enough to say 'I'll be right back' and then come back for lunch, which he took care of...generous to a falt.
He played the part well, dressed to the 'T' ....preppy style...clutching a glass of mixed Vodka, in one hand & a bag with our lunch in the other.....
So it went with him  always the 'Hero' getting us work when we needed it, or just having a good time, as we needed it.

Theodore, or Teddy or Ted, he was always on top of the game no matter what he always came through with that Big Grin like he had the best news ever to tell you, & for the most part he did, it was another job or an event that we all were going to go to, or the pay check he knew he must deliver on time. What ever it was Ted would come through & we all benefited in one form or another.

Music, of course was another love, & this month shows just how much we all come together with the news of many Deaths of famous Musicians!
I'm going to take a part of an article I just read in the News today. .....it's titled Cultural Grief....

Mornings of late take on a new dread.
Wake up. Roll over. Grab you phone. Check who's trending today.Scroll down to see whose photo has circulated on Facebook since last night.
Which of my Heroes am I Mourning today..?!
From Glenn Frey to Natalie Cole to Lenny Kilmister to Alan Rickman, to the ever beloved David Bowie.

Bowie being Teddy's most favorite, And now the both may have  the peace & joy together that they all deserve.

I would like to also mention that Theodore's most loved & adored close friend Mary Eisenmenger took great care to see that he had been most comfortable in all his days, along with our good friend Barbara who made sure that his Hair was with not one strand out of place, keeping him looking the best as only Emerson would have wanted it.......

......as the 'list' continues to grow, may you all find Peace & Happiness ...Loving one 'n other...while we enjoy this time together.....

......LOOKING BACK TO SEE IF SHE WAS LOOKING BACK TO SEE IF I WAS LOOKING AT HER....

....What makes this thing we are tied to, call TIME...
Can we really adjust to the changes it brings us.....
How will we move to that beat that calls us to listen,
in our Hearts our Souls & most important our Minds.

To think that another Year has past, in the Blink
of an Eye...or so it seems, now that it's gone.....
How do we involve ourselves in trying to dissect
the one thing we can't Control......

We keep looking back to see if there was something.
just one thing that may give us the satisfaction of doing
that one thing we can't change now that the Year is Gone,
or maybe it was in Poor Judgement & now that too is gone...

Do we Punish  ourselves for making that mistake..?
Or was it a Mistake or just bad timing...?
Our inner clocks just keep ticking so that whatever we do,
we can't turn back the Hands of time to correct it!

What a long strange trip it's been....
It goes back further than just this past year....
To look at the years before....I have used 40 as a guiding
Post to bring us only to a small portion of what the Past
         has brought us.

Bringing back all those Memories of Friends we have
lost, then confining in the ones that are still with us to try &
understand those losses, in hopes of securing the right answer.
Only to find out there is no 'Right' or 'Wrong' answer.....

We move on from there, to think of just one of those
friends sets us back in time & uncertain memories....
Such good friends they were, joyful & free, serious &without
hesitation make you feel that all is well, & we are just young
without fear of the consequences...to keep moving & not
         slowing down for anyone.....

I had the privilege to know many good people who became
great friends & that they continue to inspire me in any of the
quests that I choose to follow, & that feeling stays with me
until it's my time to go with hopes that my Spirit will be
allowed to bring more Happiness, Joy, & Love to others....

.....may you all have a most wonderful New Year,
and that Love & Peace follow you where ever you
               shall go......

....Adding anther from my Book of Poems & Prose......

..Page 6&7

                    State of Broke Down People.....

                  Girl appears Broken with Fear
                  and with Fright she Runs
                  from the Shadows of Death,
or a Boy that's maybe Dear.

Run the length of the Street,
                  Around the Corner to Stare
                  Look hard at your Destiny,
Only Hell are you to Meet.

A man, Still, with no Harm
                  but you're to Hate Him
                  and Run the other Way
to be Grabbed Fast on your Arm.

                  Shock taken in Despair
                  Captured only by Feeling
                  nothing has Held You.....
                  only Falsehood is There.

                  Scamper to Hide in Corners
to the Slums where alleys Prevail
                  Fall your Half lifted Body,
then be Swept up by no Mourners.

If you do Survive to Tell
and Seek out your own Truth,
                  You will turn to Hate.....
For your last Home is Hell.

...Page 8

                        Time for Living.....

Days are Hot, Long, and Stale....
The next might bring Rain or Hail.
Love, like this day differs as much...
You have to grab hold, just don't Touch!

Become aware of this as time goes on...
and you will live through life as easy as a Song.
Beware of faults in Love and Life
Pick the Truest for you Wife!

                  Behold, Death is yet Far....
So live your life the Fullest without Mar.
When the time for you to Pass,
And you believe in yourself, you will Last!

....Posts from my Book of Poems & Prose....this one from another writer...Yevtushenko..

I'm adding this one as part of some other writer's that I connected with back then.....1968 >'74....
His name is Yevtushenko, and the name of the Poem is......'Waiting'......

My love will come, will fling open her arms and fold me in them.
Will understand my Fears, Observe my change in from the Pouring Dark, from the Pitch Night without stopping to bang on the Taxi door.
She'll run upstairs, through the decaying porch, burning with Love  and Love's happiness, she'll run dripping upstairs, she won't knock, will take my head in her hands, and when she drops her overcoat on a chair....it will slide to floor in a Blue Heap.....

.....Another from that same Writer, it's titled Gentleness......

    This can't go on:
Is after all injustice of it's kind how in what year did this come into fashion..?
Deliberate indifference to the living, deliberate cultivation of the Dead, their shoulders slump and get Drunk sometimes, and one by one they quit; Orators at tt the Crematorium speak words of gentleness to History.
What was it took his life from Mayakovsky?!
What was it put the Gun between his fingers?!
If with that voice of his, with that appearance, if ever they had offered him in life some crumbs or gentleness.
Men live, men are trouble makers.
          Gentleness is a Posthumous Honour.....

               .....from pages 3&4.......

.....now on page 5...I will add one of mine...

                 Girl of the Damned

Be down girl of the Damned, don't rise to the wealth of it...
They will take you and your land...you need all, so take your little bit.

Hit, leave, be gone forever. Leave this Household Slum with bed.
It should be Burnt, but never... it will stay and just get lost instead.

....A Delight Last Night....

For those who don't take advantage of Public Television, I would like to share with you what I have found to be ever so interesting, Moving, & Memorable.
It mainly happens on a Saturday Night, when as you know not much on your normal National Stations. Although through the week you can catch many shows of varying interests. This particular time frame on Saturday include several shows.....the first one I got hooked on since it's set in the Islands somewhere in the Carribean.
It's called Death In Paradise. A 'who done it' set in a most beautiful setting, along with Music & Scenery to keep you focused, and of course a cast of characters that make it fun to watch in such a Dream like setting.
My dream of course is to visit such Island, and lucky that I have a friend that lives on one in the Virgin Islands...St Johns.

After that show they present you with an old Movie which I am so glad to have caught up on some of them. The one last night would have to be one of my favorites as far as old cars and car chases go....Bullitt....now that I was so happy to reflect back on with all the ...well now...old cars from 1968, and a chase scene with Steve McQueen driving that unforgettable Green Fastback Mustang, going up against that Black Dodge Charger!! Has to be the best chase scence up against only the one in 'French Connection'!
Not only did I see so many cars I loved...his girl friend, Jacqueline Bisset drove a bright yellow 59>60 Porche convertible!
I also found out that they filmed around a Weekend which Steve's character had to find the Villian by Sunday night. Well I just couldn't believe it when the show a Marquise out side a Resturant saying it was Mother's Day, May 11th.....that with the fact that it was one of my favorite Movie's, just made it to the top......

Someday I would like to DoNATE to this PBS station coming from FSU...Florida State University...which I read that they might sell, but not to worry about this staion. I sure hope so, it would be a shame to not be able to watch, not just the Movies but other worthwhile shows like the Nature show and all the Music shows....

                                but never Slept ?

                                Have you ever heard

                                Have you ever Loved
                                Yet you were alone....
                                Have you ever returned
                                to that Empty Home ?

...Emptiness is but Sweet Sorrow...only to be filled
